Voice API Calling

The pricing model is structured on a transparent, pay-as-you-go basis, with total costs calculated as the sum of all utilized call legs. A "call leg" is defined as a single connection, and a full call may be comprised of one or more legs. This structure provides the flexibility to combine various voice channels—including traditional phone lines (Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)), SIP interfaces, and in-app calling. In addition to standard per-minute costs, a suite of features are available for enhancement and may be added to the Service as needed.

Domestic calling

Sinch provides domestic calling in 60+ countries. Calls made between numbers within the same country are considered domestic and will be charged at domestic rates. Calls made to other countries will be billed at international rates. Domestic calling is available via Sinch numbers, or numbers ported to Sinch.

Here is an example demonstrating how the pricing is calculated for a specific call scenario. Please note that the per-minute rates used below are for illustrative purposes.

Example: SIP Inbound to PSTN Outbound with Call Recording

In this scenario, a call comes in via a SIP connection to the Sinch platform and is then connected to a number on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), and the entire call is recorded.

  • SIP Inbound (receive call): $0.0025/minute
  • PSTN Outbound (make call): $0.01/minute
  • Call Recording: $0.002/minute
  • Total $0.0145/minute

For a 10-minute call, the total cost would be 10 minutes * $0.0145/minute = $0.145.

Number masking is not a priced feature in itself, but is priced on the included call legs and used Sinch number(s). During a PSTN-to-PSTN call, both parties see a Sinch virtual number as the caller ID, effectively masking their actual phone numbers.

The example also includes the monthly cost of the phone number used for the inbound call.

  • Phone number: $0.80 monthly and $0.80 setup fee
  • PSTN Inbound (receive call): $0.008/minute
  • PSTN Outbound (make call): $0.01/minute
  • Total: $0.018/minute, $0.80 monthly and setup fee

For a 10-minute call, the usage cost would be 10 minutes * $0.018/minute = $0.18. The total monthly cost would be $0.98 + $0.80 (one-time fee for the number), assuming this is the only call made during the month.

No, SIP interface is part of programmable voice and is only covering one call leg that is used to connect SIP infrastructure. It does not include the PSTN charges.
