WHAT MAKES IT GREAT

Why customers love rich, two-way MMS

Plain text is limited. Two-way MMS turns chats into vivid experiences that grab people’s attention, cut down on going back-and-forth with support, and deliver promotions people act on.

Boost engagement fast

Images, GIFs and video make every message stand out, driving higher read rates and more interactive customer replies.

Resolve issues faster

Customers can share photos of problems, so agents can solve issues in minutes instead of days, trimming expensive back-and-forth emails.

Increase marketing ROI

Visual coupons, demos and promos inspire action and lift click-through rates beyond plain text broadcasts.

BOOST ENGAGEMENT

Capture attention with vibrant images, GIFs, audio and video

Some messages are just better with visuals. Send product photos, how-to videos, appointment confirmations with maps, or branded promotions—all directly in the conversation.

  • Capture attention in crowded inboxes

  • Use rich media in chatbots and campaigns

  • Stand out from plain text competitors

REAL-LIFE USE CASES

Where two-way MMS shines

Visual customer support

Let customers snap a photo of broken products or error screens and text it straight to your help desk. Agents can view the image instantly and respond with the right fix on the first try.

Rich media marketing

Send coupons, GIFs and product teasers that make your campaigns pop. Rich visuals grab attention and inspire clicks better than plain text promotions.

Insurance claims

Policyholders can text images of vehicle or property damage from the scene. Adjusters get fast visual proof to kick-start claims without paperwork delays.

Picture-based contests

Invite followers to submit photos via MMS for user-generated content. Collect, curate and showcase entries in a single streamlined conversation.

Two-way MMS API FAQs

Two-way MMS is multimedia messaging that lets your application send and receive images, GIFs, audio, and video in a single conversation for richer customer interactions. Sinch Two-Way MMS is also fully integrated into our omnichannel Conversation API, making it easy to include MMS in broader messaging strategies.

The API is a REST interface that enables both sending (MT) and receiving (MO) of multimedia messages. This ensures that a user can send messages to a mobile device (MT), or that a mobile device can send messages to your application (MO). It’s a robust messaging solution that unifies the complexities behind working with multiple carriers.

Your app sends media via a REST API call and receives inbound MMS through a webhook. Sinch posts a JSON payload with a media link that your application can download and process.

MMS is primarily supported in North America (USA and Canada). Availability is limited in other regions like Australia. Contact us to find out if you’re covered.

File size limits vary by carrier, but keeping images under 500 KB offers the broadest compatibility.

Common formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, and MP3.

Configure a webhook URL in your Sinch dashboard. When a user sends an MMS, Sinch delivers a JSON payload with a media link to your application.

An MMS-enabled short code or 10DLC number, an application that processes webhooks and fetches media from a URL, and an approved campaign.

To get started, you’ll need an MMS-enabled number and an application capable of processing inbound webhooks and fetching media from a URL.

Yes. Group MMS lets you engage multiple recipients in one rich-media thread.

The API offers 99.95% uptime and runs on the Sinch Super Network with 600+ direct carrier connections for high deliverability.

Sinch adheres to SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 standards and provides tools to support your own TCPA and GDPR compliance.
