Symsoft extends Messaging Services in Polkomtel

Symsoft, the operator division of CLX Communications AB (publ.) (XSTO:CLX), have extended their existing Value Added Services solution at Polkomtel’s operator brand, Plus by fully deploying the Symsoft MMSC. Polkomtel, one of Poland’s leading telecommunications operators, serve over 9,6 million mobile telephony subscribers in the Polish market.

The Symsoft partnership with Polkomtel started more than a decade ago when Polkomtel first used Symsoft SMS routing capabilities to overcome deficiencies in their existing solution. Since then, Symsoft has fully replaced the messaging infrastructure at Polkomtel, including all SMSCs and introduced capabilities such as SMS Firewall and IP-SM Gateway to protect subscribers from fraud and to cater to subscribers utilizing IP services in the 4G LTE network. Besides providing their customers with top-of-the-line messaging services, the messaging infrastructure provided by Symsoft has also allowed Polkomtel to leverage the growing Application to Person (A2P) messaging opportunity.

Polkomtel has now taken the next step towards full consolidation of value added services by also deploying their MMS services with the MMSC from the Symsoft Consolidated VAS suite of products. Utilising this product suite more extensively has crucially allowed Polkomtel to leverage the benefits of consolidation and is expected show gains through OPEX reduction.

In recent years Polkomtel has seen an increase in the use of MMS services partly due to messaging management of smartphones where messages automatically utilize MMS functionality when emoijs, symbols and pictures are sent by the subscriber. MMS is expected to continue to be an important and integral part of the messaging portfolio of operators even in an eventual transition to Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging.

Sebastian Krzyżowski, Director of Network Operation at Polkomtel commented “We have had a strong and transparent working relationship with Symsoft for many years and are delighted to further extend our use of their Consolidated VAS offering by deploying their MMSC throughout our network in Poland. Given our experience with Symsoft, we are confident that our customers are receiving and will continue to receive a quality MMS service.”

Petter Näslund, VP Product Management at Symsoft said “We are honoured to once more receive proof points of the trust that Polkomtel has in Symsoft. By extending their use of the Symsoft Consolidated VAS offering, Polkomtel will not only get an outstanding MMS service at a reduced OPEX but will also further prepare their subscriber base for the more advanced services offered by RCS.”
