Sinch Functions Supplemental Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 28 September 2026
These Sinch Functions Supplemental Terms and Conditions (“Functions Supplement”) are made under and form a part of Customer’s Agreement with Sinch. This Functions Supplement governs Sinch’s provision and Customer’s receipt of the Sinch Functions services (defined below). The definitions in the Agreement apply to any term not defined in this Functions Supplement.
- Service Description.
Sinch Functions is a managed serverless platform (the “Service”) that runs Customer-supplied code (Node.js or C#) in Sinch-hosted, isolated containers. Customer code handles events and webhooks from Sinch services such as Voice, Conversation and Messaging, and can serve HTTP endpoints. The Service includes deployment through the Sinch CLI and Sinch Dashboard, configuration and secrets management, file storage, a per-function SQL database, logs, and an optional setting that keeps a function running continuously (“Always On”). Customer is responsible for the code it deploys and for the content that code processes.
- Supplemental Terms for Underlying Services.
Where Customer uses Sinch Functions in connection with other Sinch services (e.g., Voice, Messaging, Conversation), the supplemental terms and conditions applicable to those services apply to that usage. Sinch Functions does not carry traffic of its own; when a function places calls or sends messages, it uses the Customer’s Voice, Messaging, or Conversation services, which must be contracted for separately.
- Customer Responsibilities.
Customer is solely responsible for: (a) the code it deploys to the Sinch Functions platform, including its functionality, security, and compliance with applicable laws; (b) the content that such code processes; (c) any third-party services, APIs, or open-source packages that Customer code calls or incorporates; (d) ensuring deployed code does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights; (e) managing its own code versions (Sinch Functions does not provide built-in version control or rollback capabilities); and (f) protecting API keys and credentials, using the platform’s secrets management for sensitive configuration, and not including sensitive data directly in function code. Customer’s use of third-party services through Sinch Functions is Customer’s own relationship and responsibility, and Sinch has no liability in connection with such third-party services.
- Fair Use.
Usage of Sinch APIs from within functions is governed by Customer’s Sinch API plan and associated rate limits. Sinch Functions does not impose additional API rate limits beyond those in Customer’s existing Sinch service agreements. Each function execution is subject to resource limits including maximum execution time, memory, payload size, environment variables, and package size, as documented in the Documentation and/or Sinch Dashboard. Customer agrees not to use Sinch Functions for cryptocurrency mining, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks or load testing of third-party services, storing or distributing malware, or any other activity that violates the Agreement or applicable law. Sinch may suspend or terminate Customer’s access to Sinch Functions immediately and without prior notice if Customer’s use negatively impacts platform performance or other customers, or otherwise violates this Functions Supplement or the Agreement.
- AI Assistant.
Sinch Functions includes an optional AI-powered assistant (the “Assistant”) that generates function code and configuration based on Customer prompts and can perform actions in Customer’s project at Customer’s direction, such as deploying functions, creating voice services, and purchasing numbers. Sinch presents each such action for Customer’s confirmation before executing it.
Customer is responsible for the instructions given to the Assistant and for every action Customer confirms, including any charges those actions incur. The Assistant’s output and proposed actions may be inaccurate or incomplete; Customer must review them before confirming. AI-generated output is provided on an “as-is” basis and Customer is solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any AI-generated code before deploying it to a production environment. The AI model provider may act as a Sinch sub-processor under the Data Processing Agreement. Use of the Assistant is subject to the Artificial Intelligence Supplemental Terms and Conditions at https://sinch.com/legal/terms-and-conditions/other-sinch-terms-conditions/artificial-intelligence-supplemental-terms-and-conditions/.
- Service Level Agreement.
Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in the Agreement, no service level agreement, uptime commitment, or service credit shall apply to the Service under this Functions Supplement.
- Data Retention.
Customer’s function code is stored encrypted at rest. Customer code, files, and database contents are retained until Customer deletes them or the applicable account is closed. Upon termination or expiration of the Agreement, Customer shall have thirty (30) days to export any needed data or logs, after which Sinch will permanently delete all Customer data unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law or specified in the Agreement. Platform database backups are retained for thirty (30) days. Execution logs are retained for twelve (12) months.
- Fees and Billing.
Sinch Functions is billed based on usage, including execution time, storage, and optional features. Current pricing is available in the Sinch Dashboard and may be updated by Sinch from time to time. Customer’s continued use of Sinch Functions following any pricing update constitutes acceptance of such updated pricing. Usage is metered in real-time and billed monthly in arrears through Customer’s existing Sinch account.
- Customer Code License.
Customer retains all intellectual property rights in code deployed to Sinch Functions. Customer grants Sinch a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, execute, and display such code solely as necessary to provide the Sinch Functions service.
