Toll Free Number

What is a toll-free number?

A toll-free number is exactly what it sounds like: a number that’s free to call. In other words, there’s no “toll” for the caller – it’s the recipient of the call who handles the bill! Each toll-free number (or TFN, for short) has a distinct 3-digit code that marks it as toll-free.

We bet you’ve seen them before! The toll-free number codes are 800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, and 833.

 Why are toll-free numbers important?

There are tons of advantages of using toll-free numbers. An obvious one is that they build trust! Whether you’re letting a customer call the number or you’re using it for 2-way messaging, you’re bound to boost customer satisfaction.

You can use toll-free numbers for all types of A2P messaging, including marketing. (Remember, though, that it’s important that users have opted-in to receive marketing content!) They support voice, MMS, and delivery receipts.
