FAQ
Sinch Engage is built for a wide range of industries—from retail and healthcare to logistics, fitness, and service businesses. If your business needs to connect with customers quickly and reliably, we’re a fit.
Your cost per text message is based on a few criteria:
• Your Sinch Engage messaging plan
• Whether you are on an annual or monthly plan
• Your message length and channel (SMS, MMS, or RCS)
• The destination country of the recipient - messages sent to numbers in your home country are charged at domestic rates, not international rates
• Whether you have exceeded your messaging allotment within your plan
Unlike platforms that are more complex or require developers to get started, Sinch Engage is user-friendly, fast to set up, and gives you multiple ways to send—all in one platform.
Yes, we offer a free 14-day limited free trial (no credit card required) so you can explore the platform and send test messages to yourself. It’s a risk-free way to see if Sinch Engage is the right fit for your business.
When you’re ready to text customers, you will need to choose a plan and number type, register for a business number (one TFN is included in every plan), or bring your own, and then you’ll be ready to get sending.
Our support team is available 24/7 to help via chat, email, or phone. We also offer onboarding assistance, live demos, and experts on-hand who can clarify any questions you have about number provisioning, security, compliance, and custom messaging needs—even before you sign-up.
We offer live chat and support on all plans. For teams who want more high touch support, we offer 24/7 phone and email support on our paid support tier plans. See details about our paid support plans.
It depends on your country. For US plans, carrier rules mean a small per-message carrier fee applies to both inbound and outbound messages on 10DLC, toll-free, and short code numbers. For most other markets - including Australia, UK, and Europe - inbound messages are free. In New Zealand, inbound charges may apply depending on your short code type. If you’re unsure how this applies to your account, our team can confirm before you sign up.
Wireless carriers charge carrier fees (also known as passthrough fees) on Toll-Free, A2P 10DLC, and Short Code numbers in the United States and Canada. This is an industry-wide requirement that affects all SMS service providers. These fees are passed directly on to customers by Sinch Engage with no markup and appear as a separate line item on invoices. You can read details about US and Canada carrier fees here.
For accounts outside the US and Canada - including Australia, the UK, and Europe - no carrier passthrough fees apply on standard SMS. Australian accounts using an alphanumeric Sender ID will need to complete ACMA Sender ID registration; any associated costs will be confirmed before you proceed.
Yes, you can change your plan at any time within the platform or by reaching out to customer support.
Yes! We can provision a dedicated number for you, or equip your existing landline to handle business text messaging. If you already have a toll-free number or 10DLC, we can help you enable it for text messaging on Sinch Engage.
In the United States, toll-free numbers cost $25 per month - and we give you the first one free of charge. A2P 10DLC numbers cost $25 per month. Short codes start at $1,000 per month. If you are a high-volume sender, get in touch with sales for custom rates.
For accounts outside the United States - including Australia, the UK, and Europe - your included dedicated number is a local long code (known as a Virtual Mobile Number, or VMN, in Australia). Alphanumeric Sender IDs, which display your brand name instead of a phone number, are also available in select markets including Australia, the UK, France, Spain, and Singapore. In New Zealand, A2P regulations require a dedicated short code rather than a long code - our team can guide you through the setup.
Not sure which number type is right for you? Explore the number types we offer, or contact our team for advice before you sign up.
Yes. You can have multiple numbers in your account and assign a distinct number to each subaccount - useful for separate departments, locations, or brands.
All plans include one dedicated number at no extra cost. The type of number included varies by country. For example, US accounts receive a free toll-free number, while Australian accounts receive a free Virtual Mobile Number (VMN). Additional numbers can be added at any time.
Just like other channels, sending RCS messages for your business requires registration, and we make it simple—from set-up to send. Get in touch with our sales team to get started.
