WHERE STIR/SHAKEN WORKS
WHAT MAKES IT GREAT
STIR/SHAKEN is a set of technical standards for caller ID authentication. STIR stands for Secure Telephone Identity Revisited, and SHAKEN means Secure Handling of Asserted information using tokens. These confirm that calls come from a real caller ID.
STIR/SHAKEN adds a digital signature to SIP INVITEs. The originating provider authenticates and signs the identity header, and the recipient provider verifies it before delivering the call.
All U.S. voice providers and foreign providers terminating calls to the U.S. must comply under the FCC TRACED Act or file mitigation plans.
You need an Operating Company Number (OCN), a 499 Filer ID with USAC, and registration in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database.
Yes. STIR/SHAKEN is preferred under CRRC 2018-32, and our solution complies with both U.S. and Canadian requirements.
STIR/SHAKEN provides transparency and trust via authentication, significantly reducing fraudulent calls, but it doesn’t guarantee all robocalls can be stopped.
STIR/SHAKEN caller ID refers to the use of these standards to verify and authenticate the caller ID information, helping recipients trust that the displayed number is legitimate.
STIR/SHAKEN compliance helps prevent spoofed calls, increases answer rates, and protects your brand reputation by making only verified calls reach your customers.
Attestation levels (A, B, C) indicate the degree of trust and verification for a call, helping recipients assess the legitimacy of incoming calls.
